Tempus edax rerum

So much has changed in the span of a year.

Last year, there was howling pain. This year, there is much-craved peace.

Last year, there was white uniform. This year, red-lined blouses and a black skirt hang in the closet.

Last year, there was uncertainty. This year, hope thrums in my veins as I look forward to the future.

Last year, there were teeth. This year, there are animals.

Last year, I was a child. This year, I became an adult.

Last year, I was lost, adrift. This year, I am finding myself.

tempus edax rerum – Latin: “time, devourer of all things”
